The offenses for both sides got off to hot starts on this Sunday afternoon, with the Mets putting up a four spot on the promising Josiah Gray in the first inning. After loading the bases with no outs, Michael Conforto chased two home with a well struck single. Javier Báez added one with an RBI single of his own, and Jeff McNeil chased the fourth run of the inning home with a deep sacrifice fly.
The Nationals came back and touched up Taijuan Walker in the bottom of the frame, though, scoring three runs on two home runs; one off the bat of Lane Thomas, and the other a two run homer by Josh Bell.
