Final Score: Marlins 2, Mets 0—Dead in the Water

The Mets were held to just one hit by Pablo Lopez, a pitcher who they tattooed for ten runs the last time they faced him, and lost to worst team in baseball for the second straight day. That one hit came on the very first batter of the game, when Jeff McNeil doubled to start things off. But the Mets failed to drive him in and the bats went silent after that. Lopez struck out seven and walked two over seven innings of work.

For his part, Steven Matz wasn’t perfect, but took a step in the right direction in his first start off the injured list.
