Fiery Terry Collins searches for Mets hero: ‘We’re not dead yet’

SAN DIEGO — The challenge grows more difficult with each new injury for the Mets, but Terry Collins is still looking for plenty of wins from his 47-41 team in the second half and something else — he’s looking for a hero.

“We’re not dead yet,’’ Collins told The Post on All-Star Monday about his struggling defending NL champs who dropped three straight to the Nationals before the break to fall six back in the NL East.

“Look, there are no guarantees in this game,’’ Collins, the NL manager in Tuesday night’s All-Star Game at Petco Park, said of his team that has lost Matt Harvey, David Wright and Lucas Duda, among others, to injuries.
