Edgin throws live BP for first time since Tommy John surgery

New York Mets LHP Josh Edgin threw 16-18 pitches at live batting practice for the first time since undergoing Tommy John surgery last year, according to the Bergen Record's Matt Ehalt.

Edgin, who is targeting May 1 as a return date, had been spending this spring training throwing bullpen sessions. Two weeks ago, he began throwing off-speed pitches from the mound.

The 29-year-old Edgin missed the entire 2015 season after he suffered a torn UCL last spring. He recorded a 1.32 ERA in 47 relief appearances in 2014.
