Mets first baseman/outfielder Dominic Smith, in the midst of a breakout season, took a swing at some Q&A on the eve of the Citi Field leg of the Subway Series.
Q: What do you remember about your first Subway Series?
A: I hit my first home run in the first Subway Series in my career. It was off Sonny Gray, which was pretty awesome. It was 2017. We weren’t playing for much towards the end of the year. To just go to Yankee Stadium for the first time and just feel the history in that ballpark … I know it’s not old Yankee Stadium, but it’s still a presence that you feel when you play on that field.
