Dominic Smith will be thinking about this game for a while.
Smith went 1-for-4 with two strikeouts in the Mets’ 7-2 loss to the Padres at Citi Field on Wednesday — and glaringly committed a plethora of ugly plays in left field as his team lost for the fourth time in the past six contests.
“I don’t want to say alter your confidence, but it’s very frustrating,” Smith said when asked how previous errors have affected his play. “We get here so early every day and put in so much work to be prepared for the game and then you get your one or two chances and stuff like that happens.
