Colon takes his place in Mets' history books

NEW YORK -- By recording the first eight outs of Wednesday's game against the Cardinals without issuing a walk, Bartolo Colon set a franchise record for command and continued one of the most impeccable control streaks in Major League history.

When Jhonny Peralta made the second out of the third inning, Colon passed Bret Saberhagen's mark of 47 2/3 innings without issuing a free pass. Colon's streak ended at 48 1/3 innings when he walked Matt Carpenter with one out in the fourth inning.

That fourth inning proved to a be a tough one for Colon, as the Cardinals got to him for six runs in the frame.
