Chase Utley on track for Games 3 and 4 with appeal on hold

Chase Utley’s appeal of a two-game suspension for his takeout slide on Mets shortstop Ruben Tejada is very unlikely to be heard Monday and likely won’t be heard Tuesday either, The Post has learned.

That would mean the Dodgers marked man would be eligible to play Games 3 and 4 of the National League Division Series at Citi Field.

Major League Baseball had wanted to expedite the appeal hearing to be conducted Monday afternoon, but Utley’s camp argues it needs more time to prepare its case.

Utley and the players union feel it would be infringement on their right to due process by insisting they put together a grievance argument within 12 hours of the suspension notice.
