The Mets moved a step closer to naming Brodie Van Wagenen their head of baseball operations.

The team and the CAA agent have agreed to terms on a contract, but the language will still need to be finalized before a deal can be completed, sources told The Post’s Joel Sherman.

Van Wagenen, who is the agent for Mets stars such as Jacob deGrom and Yoenis Cespedes, became the front runner for the job and the two sides began contract negations on Friday. Van Wagenen, 44, beat out fellow finalist Chaim Bloom, the Rays’ senior VP of baseball operations, to be Sandy Alderson’s replacement.
