New York Mets general manager Brodie Van Wagenen was caught on a hot mic Thursday saying Major League Baseball commissioner Rob Manfred "just doesn't get it" after he suggested the team stage a one-hour walkout during its scheduled game against the Miami Marlins instead of not playing in protest against racial injustice.
The recording of Van Wagenen, which was uploaded to the Mets website and scraped by Twitter users, shows him defending Mets players and criticizing Manfred's plan.
Talking to two unidentified Mets employees -- "Three of us here," Van Wagenen said at one point, "can't leave this room" -- he lays out a plan from the league to avoid postponing Thursday's game.
