Baseball America is back with its second-to-last mock draft ahead of the MLB Draft. In this latest simulation, the Mets are pegged to select outfielder Max Belyeu of the University of Texas with the 38th overall pick.
Belyeu, a 6-foot-2, 215-pound junior from Aledo, Texas, fits the mold of your classic corner-outfield slugger. Across 59 games with the Longhorns—all in the corner outfield—he slashed .329/.423/.667, clubbing 18 home runs and driving in 53 runs in the process. He also led the team in slugging and tied for the lead in homers, earning him Big 12 Player of the Year honors and several All-American selections.
