Former Mets player and minor league manager Wally Backman has spoken out regarding his departure from the organization.
Backman, 57, had been coaching within the Mets minor league system since 2009, most recently serving as manager for their Triple-A affiliate in Las Vegas from 2013-16.
At the end of this past season, Backman resigned from his role in order to pursue other opportunities. According to Bob Klapisch of NorthJersey.com, Backman claims that he's been blackballed across Major League Baseball by Mets GM Sandy Alderson from receiving other offers.
"There's been a bad roadblock, and I know where it's coming from," Backman said.
