If you’ve watched the Mets play in Atlanta over the years, well, the way they lost their series opener there tonight really shouldn’t come as much of a surprise. Despite taking a 4-1 lead into the eighth inning, the team went on to lose 5-4 in ten innings. That makes four consecutive losses for the Mets.
David Peterson had given up just one run through seven innings and was sent back out to pitch the eighth. He put runners on first and second quickly with a walk and a single, and things got worse from there. Reed Garrett gave up a single to load the bases, and after he got a pair of outs, he served up a game-tying three-run double to Marcell Ozuna.
