The non-tender deadline has come and gone. There wasn’t much drama. Two injured pitchers and a guy claimed on waivers a few weeks ago were the ones cut by the New York Mets. This hardly puts a flotation device around the shoulders of everyone else left with the team.
The Mets are bound to make trades and continually DFA players. They’ll have players come in and go out before ever putting on a uniform. That’s the way David Stearns operates.
These five Mets players happened to survive the non-tender deadline mostly because there was no urgency to get rid of them just yet.
