5 most memorable September moments in Mets history

PHILADELPHIA — One of the good things about the fact that the Mets have made the playoffs so infrequently through their history is that a list such as this one is even possible. We would need to sign on with a book publisher to do justice to a similar list for the Yankees.

But the Mets entered the weekend looking to qualify for the playoffs for just the ninth time in their 55-season history. And the back-to-back nights on the recent homestand — when Yoenis Cespedes was robbed of a walk-off homer on a Wednesday, and Asdrubal Cabrera hit one less than 24 hours later — reminds that just about every one of those playoff pushes was accomplished with the help of a forever moment or two.
