The 2022 MLB playoffs are underway with the debut of a new postseason format.
Major League Baseball premiers its 12-team format which boasts an additional wild-card spot in both the American League and National League. The fun kicked off with a jam-packed wild-card round that featured eight teams competing in four wild-card series.
In the AL, the Cleveland Guardians knocked out the Tampa Bay Rays, while the Seattle Mariners stunned the Toronto Blue Jays to start their first postseason in 21 years. Cleveland moved on to play the New York Yankees in the ALDS, where the Guardians lost in five games.
