Mets to trade Bartolo Colon to the Giants?

In today's Mets trade rumors and news update, the New York Mets may have just found a taker for veteran starting pitcher Bartolo Colon on the trade market.

Per ESPN New York's Adam Rubin, "citing a source close to Bartolo Colon, ESPNDeportes.com's Marly Rivera reports that the San Francisco Giants have expressed interest in acquiring the 41-year-old right-hander."

Colon's next scheduled start is on Wednesday at Safeco Field against the Seattle Mariners.

With a $9 million price tag for 2014 and a $11 million salary for 2015, several teams have been hesitant to take on Colon in fears that his advanced age could cause a shop drop-off in production.

After a borderline Cy Young season with the Oakland A's in 2013, Colon has been inconsistent in his first year in New York. He is 8-8 with a 4.12 ERA in 19 starts, pitching mostly to contact with a K/BB ratio over five.

With the Mets' organizational depth pitching-wise, sending Colon to a team in need of help such as the Giants could help the Mets address other issues such as the team's need for impact players in the middle of the infield.
