Mets Rumors Roundup: The Latest On Dillon Gee, Phil Coke, Stephen Drew & More

The Mets haven't been the most active team at winter meetings, but there's still plenty of time for them to make some moves. Let's take a look at the latest rumors, as of Thursday afternoon:

Dillon Gee

Gee is being shopped hard, with the Colorado Rockies currently leading the race. The Twins, Royals, Rangers, and Giants have all been linked in the last two days, but it sounds like the Giants and Twins have bowed out at this point.

The Mets are interested in getting lefty reliever Rex Brothers in exchange, but Brothers had a rough 2014 and it's possible there will be other pieces involved.

Phil Coke

Yesterday, Jon Morosi of Fox Sports reported the Mets are kicking the tires on Coke, but nothing is close at this stage. Sandy Alderson wants another left-handed reliever, though, so this is definitely one to keep an eye on.

Stephen Drew

The Mets are still looking for a shortstop, and Drew is one of the few available players who can play there. While there's definite interest on New York's side, they're one of many teams currently tracking the former Red Sox player. Oakland, San Diego, Atlanta, Toronto, Miami and Houston are all definitely interested, with the Yankees and Dodgers keeping an eye on Drew as well.

John Mayberry Jr.

Joel Sherman of the NY Post reports that the Mets have signed OF Mayberry to a one-year, $1.45m deal. Mayberry underwhelmed last year in Philadelphia and Toronto, putting together a .212/.310/.425 slash line, but he's solid against lefties and will provide depth in the outfield.

Bartolo Colon

As things stand, Colon is unlikely to be traded in the immediate future, with his salary proving to be a real stumbling block. Colon is due to make $11m in 2015 before becoming a free agent after the season.
