Mets Rumors: Bartolo Colon impresses, "nothing" to happen at trade deadline?

In this Mets rumors and news update, 41-year-old starting pitcher Bartolo Colon impressed on Monday, throwing 7 2/3 innings of one run ball in a 7-1 home victory over the Philadelphia Phillies.

While Colon's trade stock likely rose after the performance, Mets general manager Sandy Alderson doesn't believe that a deal is imminent. Per Roger Rubin of the New York Daily News, Alderson indicated before Monday's game that the market hasn't exactly heated up for Colon, adding “(were) I to make a guess, I would say nothing will happen.”

"But you never know what’s going to transpire in the last three days or so,” Alderson went on. “Clubs that may be having conversations elsewhere circle back based on what they think their options might be.”

Reading into Alderson's words, the desire to offload the rest of Colon's contract - the remainder of his $9 million for this season, and $11 million for 2015 - still remains. However, the likelihood of finding a partner at this point is still to be determined.
