Zion Williamson keeping NBA debut in perspective, even if world isn’t

LAS VEGAS — An earthquake shook the ground near Cox Pavilion Thursday morning. Contrary to popular belief, Zion Williamson was not throwing down dunks.

But there may be another one Friday night when the Pelicans’ prized No. 1 pick will finally make his anticipated debut — no less against former Duke teammate RJ Barrett and the Knicks as the Las Vegas Summer League tips off.

“Obviously, it’s going to be exciting playing against my brother, but I really can’t go into the game thinking of it like that because we’re two different positions,” Williamson said Thursday after the Pelicans finished their final practice before games begin.
