In the past two decades, the Knicks have employed a carousel of 13 head coaches. In fact, the only two coaches that lasted more than three seasons since Pat Riley are Jeff Van Gundy and Mike D’Antoni. James Dolan is notorious for giving his coaches an extremely short leash, with the latest example being the firing of David Fizdale 22 games into this season.
Jackson’s latest coaching job was in Golden State, where he spearheaded the beginning of the Warriors dynasty. He was lauded for unlocking Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson in a motion offense, as well as giving Draymond Green ample opportunity to grow.
