When Mitchell Robinson first became shot-blocking machine

NEW ORLEANS — Butch Stockton laughed when asked if he was surprised Knicks starting center Mitchell Robinson blocked nine shots in a game — the franchise record for a rookie.

The Chalmette High School coach has seen Robinson block more shots than anyone. As senior in 2016-17 for Chalmette, “The Cajun Kid” rejected eight per game. He once collected 16 and 14 blocks in Louisiana high-school contests.

“Not surprised by it,’’ Stockton told The Post before the Knicks’ 129-124 loss to the Pelicans. “He stresses a lot about blocking shots. The first guy I’ve seen who can be in the lane and get to a guy’s 3-point shot.
