Veteran Taj Gibson might be Knicks starter for opener

When last season began Taj Gibson was sitting home, an out of work and maybe aged out player without a job.

But he then was brought back to the Knicks to reunite with his long-time coach Tom Thibodeau, who by the postseason had placed him in the starting lineup. And when the Knicks open the regular season Wednesday Gibson might be the opening night center.

Thibodeau said that Nerlens Noel did not practice after not playing a game in the preseason. He is nursing what the team called a sore knee, but Noel describes as more of a hamstring issue, and is doubtful to play Wednesday.
