Veteran coach expresses interest in Knicks’ coaching job

No surprise, Frank Vogel has expressed interest in the Knicks job, according to an NBA source.

Vogel, who was lights-out as the Pacers’ head coach (2011-16), was fired by the Magic after consecutive 50-plus loss seasons, posting a 54-110 overall record in Orlando.

Knicks general manager Scott Perry, then serving as the Magic assistant GM, was part of the hiring process to bring Vogel aboard in Orlando in May 2016.

Steve Mills, now the Knicks’ president, nearly agreed to hire Vogel, 44, to come to the Garden while serving as GM during the same period. However, then-president Phil Jackson chose Jeff Hornacek, who was fired in the early-morning hours Thursday at Westchester County Airport.
