Heading into his sophomore season, Tyler Kolek has a real opportunity to earn rotation minutes at the guard spot behind Jalen Brunson. However, he has struggled mightily through the Knicks' first two summer league games, and now that opportunity might be slipping away.

As a general rule of thumb, you shouldn't put too much stock in rookies' performances in summer league. Nerves are high, and they need a period of time to adjust; for most players, it's their first professional experience. That said, when second-year players struggle, it is usually telling.

The Knicks have a trio of veteran free-agent guards who are currently unsigned.
