Two days after the NBA Draft, RJ Barrett was in Santa Monica presenting the Rookie of the Year Award at the league’s awards banquet.
“The NBA Awards was great,’’ Barrett said. “Hopefully I’ll win the award next year. It was good to experience that.”
The Knicks’ new 6-foot-7 swingman sniper was talking on a conference call from Las Vegas Tuesday after the Knicks’ first Summer League practice. The club debuts Friday against Barrett’s best friend and No. 1 overall pick, phenom Zion Williamson, whom he will compete against for the ROTY.
The Summer League schedule-maker deserves an award, too, for getting the Knicks and Pelicans together fast at UNLV’s Thomas & Mack Center.
