Knicks rookie Kristaps Porzingis revealed he would like to wear the number “6,’’ but was told it was unavailable.
That’s because rookie Travis Wear is still in the picture despite becoming a free agent July 1.
Wear had back issues late in the season and the club essentially shut him down. After a fast start, he seemed to hit a rookie wall, but has triangle skills as a 6-foot-9 forward who can shoot from the outside and defend. Wear will play on the Knicks summer league squad and probably will be invited to training camp unless he gets a guaranteed offer elsewhere.
