Phil Jackson came out of his foxhole to touch on several topics, including the draft and the triangle offense and indicated the Knicks’ fall to No. 4 in the draft probably has ruined his chance of adding a much-needed big man to the roster.
The Knicks were hoping to be in contention for either Karl-Anthony Towns or Jahlil Okafor. Towns is expected to be drafted No. 1 and it’s a long shot for Okafor to slip past the Lakers and Sixers.
“So whereas before I was like, O.K., we’re going to draft a big, now we have to be open to what’s there for us that makes our team different,” Jackson told the New York Times in his first interview since mid-April’s end-of-season address.
