Though Bob McAdoo did represent the Knicks twice in the All-Star game, the future Hall of Famer’s brief tenure with the club wouldn’t turn out to be quite as productive as both he and the team hoped. But there were certainly flashes of brilliance from the innovative jump-shooting center, whom Sports Illustrated once called “the most astounding outside scoring machine ever to play basketball.” Case in point: on December 17, 1978, McAdoo returned from missing 12 games due to injury to pour in 41 points in 42 minutes -- off the bench. At the time, it was a Knicks franchise record.
