New York Knicks: Trey Burke knows defense is the key to his future

If you ask former New York Knicks team president Phil Jackson, you don’t change the spot on a leopard. In other words: You can’t turn a player into something they’re not, primarily on the defensive end of the floor.

While his tenure with the Knicks has been brief, resurgent point guard Trey Burke is out to prove that Jackson would have been wrong about him.

Prior to the 2017-18 NBA regular season, most would agree that Burke was a skilled offensive player who sabotaged his own success with poor shot selection and lackluster effort on defense.
