New York Knicks: Rick Pitino endorses David Fizdale

Since 2000, the New York Knicks have cycled through 11 head coaches, with Jeff Hornacek as the most recent leader of the team. However, after 2017-18, the organization fired the 55 year old and replaced him with David Fizdale, the former coach of the Memphis Grizzlies from 2016-17.

Long before either man, Mike D’Antoni, Jeff Van Gundy and even Pat Riley, Rick Pitino was the head coach of the Knicks from 1987-89, when he accumulated a 90-74 record. This included playoff appearances in both seasons.

Pitino returned to college to coach Kentucky, come back to the NBA to lead the Boston Celtics and had another stint in college with Louisville, but he apparently still holds the Knicks close.
