New York Knicks have waived small forward Troy Williams

The New York Knicks entered Summer League with the unfortunate need to cut a player. Many expected center Joakim Noah and his to be the casualty of the roster purge, due in large part to the fact that he’s owed $37,825,000 over the next two seasons.

Instead, it was a Summer League standout whom many had come to believe would be a key player in David Fizdale’s rotation in 2018-19.

New York finished Summer League at 2-3, and it was small forward Troy Williams who often led the team in +/-. Unfortunately, that wasn’t enough to save Williams from hitting the open market once a vast majority of teams had already utilized their cap space and exceptions.
