New York Knicks fire coach David Fizdale, making the inevitable move

Less than 24 hours after a second consecutive blowout loss, the New York Knicks have fired head coach David Fizdale on Friday afternoon, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski. Assistant coach Keith Smart has also been relieved of his duties.

It felt inevitable from the moment president Steve Mills and general manager Scott Perry took the podium for that Nov. 10 post-game press conference expressing their unhappiness with a 2-8 start to the season. They said the season would be assessed in 10-game spurts. Fizdale’s Knicks followed with another 2-8 record in the next 10 games, with a 129-92 loss to the Denver Nuggets in the 22nd game.
