SAN FRANCISCO — It was past midnight back in New York when Knicks president Steve Mills and general manager Scott Perry stood against a closed locker-room door at Portland’s Moda Center, waiting for interim coach Mike Miller to finish addressing the players.
Mills and Perry each wore pained, panicked looks. They didn’t have to say a word.
There came the first wave of worry this coaching change may not result in a lot more winning than the Knicks did under the fired David Fizdale. In only Miller’s second game Tuesday, the Knicks looked as bad as they ever did under Fizdale.
