Getting booed on draft night didn’t faze the Knicks’ Kristaps Porzingis. And neither does getting tweaked by Phil Jackson.
The Knicks president said in August, as part of his series on ESPN.com, that the team’s first-round pick (fourth overall) could end up being like Shawn Bradley because he might be too tall for his own good, and therefore not able to get his core strong enough.
Porzingis laughed off the comment.
“That’s what Phil does to get guys to work hard,” the 7-foot-3 rookie told reporters Wednesday. “That fired me up. I’m not Shawn Bradley.”
Porzingis skipped Eurobasket this summer, at the Knicks’ request, and said he was happy to spend that time getting stronger.
