The New York Knicks took a minor risk during the 2016 offseason by trading for point guard Derrick Rose. Team president Phil Jackson deemed it an exploratory evaluation of a former league MVP who was south of 30 years of age.
After the one-year experiment garnered mixed reviews, however, it appears as though New York is exploring other options.
Rose is currently an unrestricted free agent, and he’s garnering interest from teams other than the Knicks. With the possibility existing that New York could lose him for nothing in return, general manager Steve Mills is evaluating a more rewarding alternative.
