Knicks have growth spurt, rout Celtics by 30 and end five-game skid

After five straight losses and then a hard day of practice Saturday, Knicks coach Tom Thibodeau stressed the need for his team to focus on the work and concentrate day by day on the task at hand. The reward was a day like Sunday afternoon.

The Knicks traveled to Boston to take on the Eastern Conference-leading Celtics, a team with five straight wins, and pummeled them from start to finish for a 105-75 win at TD Garden. It was a surprising 63rd birthday gift for Thibodeau.

The Knicks led by as many as 37 points and never trailed.
