Knicks end Garden losing streak to avoid historic futility mark

Over and over, the familiar keys played, but Madison Square Garden’s poor arena organist went ignored. Repeated invitations for the building’s long-popular “De-fense” chant were met with silent indifference from the packed house.

Apathy is hard to shake when watching the worst Knicks team in history. For now, avoiding all-time infamy will do.

In jeopardy of joining the 1993-94 Dallas Mavericks for the longest home losing streak in NBA history, the Knicks managed to end their embarrassing 18-game home losing streak, and notched their first Garden win since Dec. 1, with Sunday night’s 130-118 victory over the Spurs.
