Knicks’ Derrick Williams finally shows signs of light bulb going on

Coach Derek Fisher gave forward Derrick Williams a backhanded compliment after the 2011 draft bust racked up a Knicks high 23 points in Friday’s 115-104 win over the Wizards, recovering from an out-of-control beginning when he committed three early turnovers.

Williams has something of a wild game, but he feasted on the Wizards’ scrubs at the end, scoring 13 fourth-quarter points. He was 7 of 11 from the field and 9 of 9 from the free throw line. Did he score within the confines of the triangle offense? Not quite, but Fisher liked to see his confidence in going at it.
