Knicks close out eventful day with win over Magic

The Knicks lost their best player — and found balance.

Even with leading-scorer Marcus Morris traded to the Clippers — and no longer around to supply a series of clutch shots — the Knicks rallied back from a 10-point fourth-quarter deficit to match a season-best three-game win streak with Thursday’s 105-103 win over the Magic at Madison Square Garden.

Julius Randle led the Knicks with 22 points and eight rebounds, while Taj Gibson matched a season-high with 19 points. Elfrid Payton sparked the team defensively, finishing with 15 points, nine assists and seven steals while RJ Barrett added 12 points in his return from a sprained right ankle.
