Knicks blow 18-point lead in 99-89 loss to Wizards

WASHINGTON - It's official. The Knicks are losers again.

An ugly third quarter doomed New York in a 99-89 defeat Saturday night to the Wizards, clinching a third consecutive losing season for the embattled franchise.

The Knicks (28-42) blew an 18-point lead beause they were outscored, 31-10, to start the second half. A day after acknowledging his future in New York is not a given beyond this season, Carmelo Anthony scored 20 points in 40 minutes - including just six points after the half.

The 31-year-old hit just two of his final 13 shot attempts, struggling right after going to the bench to ice his surgically-repaired left knee.
