Knicks are learning valuable Mitchell Robinson lesson

Error 0:

The Knicks don’t have Deandre Ayton as their smooth-as-silk center of the future.

Instead, they have Mitchell Robinson, a super-athletic, 7-foot-1, shot-blocking big man who still has several holes in his offensive game and really is not that much better than his rookie season.

Ayton, the No. 1-overall pick in the 2018 draft by the Suns, who missed this season’s first 25 games because of a drug ban, put on a show Thursday in Phoenix’s sickly 121-98 rout of the Knicks at the Garden that drew boos in the final minutes. Ayton finished with 26 points — going 11-for-15 from the field — to go with a career-high 21 rebounds.
