LAS VEGAS — The Hawks’ reported decision not to match the Knicks’ staggering offer sheet for Tim Hardaway Jr. paves the way for the young wing player’s return to the Garden. His former team says he is a different, better player than the one who left New York two years ago — mainly because he has a better attitude.
“Tim has come a really long way, and a lot of that is just because his mentality has changed,’’ Atlanta’s summer league coach Charles Lee said.
Lee was on the Hawks’ staff as an assistant when the 6-foot-6 Hardaway arrived two years ago in a trade with the Knicks.
