Knicks’ Season Crumbles, and With It Carmelo Anthony’s Chance at a Title: When Carmelo Anthony went to the NBA All-Star Game last season, he hoped to act as a salesman. He wanted to pitch his high-profile friends on the benefits (no, seriously) of playing for the Knicks. Some of them were headed toward free agency, and perhaps they would be willing to join him in New York. Anthony is an All-Star again this season, a late replacement for the injured Kevin Love. But Anthony does not plan to do any recruiting this time around, not when his own future seems so uncertain.
