CHARLOTTE — After 29 games last season, Jeff Hornacek’s Knicks were 16-13 before it all fell apart — Tim Hardaway Jr.’s stress fracture in early December the start of the comedown.
David Fizdale’s Knicks have already fallen apart — record-wise. You’d never know it, though, by the merriment surrounding the team across this mountain of losses — Fizdale’s largest feat.
Entering Friday’s match in Charlotte, the Knicks were 8-21 through 29 games with the fifth-worst winning percentage (.276) in the NBA. ‘Tis the season to be jolly despite being 13 games under .500.
Even with their low expectations entering training camp, Fizdale said it “hurts’’ to lose, but he has proven a master salesman with an ability to lift the holiday spirits of his players.
