PHILADELPHIA — Carmelo Anthony made a rusty return to the NBA after more than a year-long absence, and Knicks coach David Fizdale was thrilled to see Anthony back gracing an NBA court at age 35.
Last time Fizdale saw Anthony was at Columbia University in September when he played pickup games with Knicks players in the weeks leading into training camp.
“I was there,” Fizdale said at Wednesday’s morning shootaround at Wells Fargo Center. “It was great. He grabbed a couple of our young guys and was giving them pointers and stuff like that. I got a real affection for Melo.
