Knicks Rumors Roundup: New York Trying To Get Draft Pick, Targeting Clarkson, Turner In Free Agency?

The New York Knicks face another crucial offseason as they try to build a playoff team that can become a contender, and they have their sights set on several moves to help them get there. Here's all the latest news and rumors surrounding New York's plans this summer:

Knicks want Jordan Clarkson?
One of the New York Knicks' biggest team needs is at guard, and ESPN's Ian Begley reports the team is high on Los Angeles Lakers guard Jordan Clarkson. Clarkson is a restricted free agent, which could hurt the Knicks chances of landing him.

New York's best chance to land him would be to offer him a deal well about market value and hope the Lakers decide not to match. LA may also dedicate most of their cap space to bigger names on the open market, which may be the case since they're targeting Hassan Whiteside and other top players.

Knicks to trade with Sixers for first-round pick?
The Knicks lack a draft pick this year, but they're trying to acquire a first-round pick. NJ.com reports the Knicks could swing a deal with the Philadelphia 76ers, who hold the No. 24 and No. 26 picks this year, and could deal one of them for a veteran or a future pick.

New York is reportedly targeting Kansas' Wayne Selden and Indiana's Yogi Ferrell, according to Begley.

Knicks to sign Evan Turner?
The Knicks also have interest in adding Celtics forward Evan Turner.

Turner has his flaws (3-point shooting), but he's a quality wing and will provide a boost on defense. Turner could start at shooting guard if Arron Afflalo leaves, or play as the team's sixth man.

Lance Stephenson to Knicks?
New York hasn't been shy about their desire to upgrade their backcourt this offseason, so it's not surprising that Grizzlies point guard Mike Conley is their top target this offseason. However, could they also be pursuing another Memphis player?

Tommy Beer of Basketball Insiders says the Knicks should go after Brooklyn-native Lance Stephenson this summer:

Like Ty Lawson, the downside is immense, as it could be argued that an NYC homecoming might be the worst possible destination for the Brooklyn native. That said, assuming the Grizzlies don’t pick up his $9.4 million option, Stephenson could provide solid bang for the buck if he gets his act together. It looked like ‘Born Ready’ might be on the verge of flaming out of the NBA after wearing out his welcome first in Charlotte and then with the Clippers. However, Stephenson played surprisingly well for the desperate and injury-ravaged Grizzlies after being dealt to Memphis. He averaged 14.2 points and 4.4 rebounds per game in the 26 contests he played in as a member of the Grizzlies.
