Knicks Draft Rumors: New York Showing Interest In Michael Porter Jr.

The New York Knicks have been mostly linked to Villanova forward Mikal Bridges and Oklahoma guard Trae Young, but the team is also showing a good deal of interest in Missouri forward Michael Porter Jr., according to SNY.tv's Adam Zagoria.

Knicks' brass will travel to Chicago next week to meet with Missouri freshman forward Michael Porter Jr., a league source told SNY.tv.

The 6-foot-10 Porter Jr. is expected to meet in Chicago with all of the top teams in the draft lottery, the league source said. He held his Pro Day on Friday in Chicago, and Knicks scouts Walker Russell and Fred Cofield attended, per a league source.

New York also met with Porter at the NBA Draft Combine earlier this month, which peaked the 6-foot-10, 210-pounder's interest.

"It'd be awesome [to play for the Knicks]," he said, per the New York Daily News. "I kind of asked them a couple questions: Where do you live in New York? Do you own a car?

"And they said a couple of guys live outside the city by the practice facility. So it was a great meeting."

Porter was in the running for the No. 1 pick in the draft before he suffered a hip injury that required back surgery and ended his season before it really started. He's a good, fluid athlete - when healthy - who excels on the perimeter and around the basket with his smooth skill set.

He is projected to be picked No. 8 overall by the Orlando Magic in our latest mock draft.
