Knicks Rumors Roundup: Carmelo's Future, J.R. Smith Injury Update & More

With the Knicks' continued struggles, the rumor mill has seemingly gone into overdrive...let's take a look at the latest Knicks rumors:

Carmelo Anthony

Melo claims he isn't looking for a way out of New York, but we're hearing that has more to do with the difficulty of engineering a move than loyalty to the franchise. Anthony is nearly impossible to trade thanks to his massive, complex contract, and the questions about his durability haven't been helped by his nagging knee problems this year. The chances that Carmelo will leave the Knicks in the next year are extremely low, and both he and the front office are well aware he'll likely be around for a while...for better or worse.

That No-Trade Clause

Reports that Anthony is willing to waive his no-trade clause are just speculation at this point. With no suitors lining up and Anthony's contract and knee scaring off any interested parties, the no-trade clause (or lack thereof) is pretty much irrelevant.

J.R. Smith

Smith will get an MRI on the knee that's been bothering him recently, but he says it's improving and the team doesn't think it's anything serious.

Tim Hardaway Jr.

Hardaway and Melo have gone at it before, and probably will again...but that really isn't anything out of the ordinary for a team with New York's recent issues. Hardaway and Anthony don't have problems that run deeper than frustration about how things are going, and there's no reason to think they can't play together going forward.
