Knicks News: Derek Fisher Believes Recent Losses Will Help The Team Grow

Past New York Knicks teams may have crumbled under the weight of the struggles that the team has gone through to start the 2014-15 NBA season.

However, under new head coach Derek Fisher, the Knicks all seem to be keeping things in perspective.

"Reality is that I don't think any of us like to lose,'' he said, via Barbara Barker of Newsday.com. "But I think we hopefully in life, as we grow and evolve, we look at setbacks or misfortunes as opportunities to improve or get better. And so now, in a leadership position, it's not about me. It's about these guys and how much they're sacrificing to try to do this the right way."

The reality is that players such as Amar'e Stoudemire, Carmelo Anthony, and the like are buying into what Fisher and president Phil Jackson are selling.

Losing may be hurting the team's pride, but the big picture still seems to be in focus for Fisher and his charges at Madison Square Garden.

"Oftentimes it takes humbling experiences and adversity to soften the environment enough for guys to really grow. I think we have a lot of that going on in our group right now and it'll pay off in the long run. Right now, we're not getting the wins that we would like, but it's gonna pay off.''
